Woven throughout the body of Zivorard Slavinski’s work is the influence of Roberto Assagiolo, On a low level of consciousness there are no solutions, and on high levels of consciousness there are no problems.

I’ve been leaning in to my contemplation of this principle in the wake of continuous gun violence. I’m not alone. The feeling of futility and powerless sorrow seeped into several conversations this week. This powerless sorrow is tough to accept. We really really don’t like it.

Nonetheless, without fail, as clients leaned into accepting and INTEGRATING this experience, they had openings of awareness, sparks of solutions, actual things they could do, that began revealing themselves.

Staying stuck mucking around in the play of approach and avoidance with powerless sorrow and related reactions to our collective trauma serves no one.

There is much work to be done.

Our outrage serves us and hopefully our communities. However, staying stuck in outrage will inhibit creative solution finding and hide the breadcrumbs leading us into a path of right action and conscious choices. Resolving reactivity reveals higher states of consciousness. It is from these higher states that we can begin glimpsing possible solutions.
